Major’s Remarks:
1. The Central Weather Administration has issued maritime and onshore warnings for Typhoon Gaemi. The affected areas will depend on the typhoon's path. However, rainfall forecasts are continually being revised upward by relevant agencies. Thus, citizens are urged to take precautions and prepare for the typhoon's arrival. All bureaus and departments are requested to prepare for disaster response and typhoon mitigation to protect the lives and property of citizens. Typhoon Gaemi's storm movement may slow down upon landfall, extending its impact on various parts of Taiwan, necessitating special attention. In areas where heavy rains caused water accumulation during the previous plum rain seasons and last week, relevant bureaus and departments are requested to strengthen protections and prepare for the deployment of mobile water pumps. Fixed water pumps and pumping stations should be inspected more frequently. Historically, annual spring tides have often caused urban road flooding and drainage ditch overflows. However, this year's improvements have outperformed those of previous years and other counties and cities during the same period. The Water Resources Bureau is requested to maintain these results and continue its efforts.
2. When the typhoon strikes, the Department of Personnel is asked to maintain close contact with the central government to make informed decisions regarding office and school closures. Any decisions should be announced as early as possible.
