Minutes of Tainan City Government’s 495th Municipal Administrative Meeting Mayor’s remarks 6/15/2021

Mayor’s Remarks:
1.    I ask concerned departments to handle mass vaccination and relief measures with dedication and attention to detail. Please put all human resources to use. Also, please maintain smooth traffic to reduce crowd gatherings. Police departments should increase patrols near vaccination sites and help manage congestions.
2.    Last year, one locally transmitted COVID-19 case was reported in Tainan. A total of 39 locally transmitted cases have been reported this year. To date, Tainan has documented a total of 40 local cases. With the professional care of health workers, 14 patients have since been nursed back to health. I sincerely thank all frontline workers for their hard work and healthcare workers for their selfless dedication. We are finally getting the situation under control. Let’s all continue to carry out pandemic prevention work until level-3 lockdown is lifted.
3.    Because of the pandemic, no large produce marketing events were held this year. The only channel for selling produce now is point-to-point, through the internet, or via public and private organizations. Seeing that Taiwan is currently under level-3 lockdown, public and private organizations are only able to purchase a limited amount of produce. Perhaps we can consider promoting produce to manufacturing businesses, other businesses, and municipal advisors. In particular, concerned departments should focus on the sales of local mangoes.
4.    Yu-Ching District Farmers’ Association has started offering a new service this year that allows consumers to place an order in Taiwan and collect goods in China (Fujian Province and Shanghai). Other farmers’ associations and produce companies also have exporting channels (Hong Kong, Macau, China, and Southeast Asia) that can help promote the sale of mangoes.
5.    Again, I respect the professionalism of all departments, and I ask all departments to diligently carry out work within their scope of responsibilities. For example, the Public Health Bureau is not the only department responsible for vaccinations. Maintaining traffic near vaccination sites and planning out routes involve other departments as well. I ask concerned departments to review their work and formulate appropriate responses.
