Mayor’s Remarks:
1. This week marks the start of a new year. Thanks to the excellent work of municipal employees, last week’s Christmas and New Year events were a great success. Recently, a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases has been observed. Four cases of local transmission were reported today (Jan 4th). Although most of these cases occurred in Northern Taiwan, the influx in north-south traffic over the long weekend and Lunar New Year increases the risk of cases spreading. I urge everyone to follow epidemic prevention measures. Concerned departments should also increase the promotion of such measures. We shouldn’t let our guard down because that is when outbreaks can occur. We should also work on increasing vaccine coverage. Citizens who are eligible for their booster shot should get one as soon as possible. In addition to getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, washing hands, and maintaining social distance are also necessary. We must not let out guard down amidst the holiday festivities. I would like to remind all colleagues to follow the regulations of the CECC and also urge citizens to follow these regulations.
2. Should the weather permit it, I ask the Bureau of Urban Development to complete the public housing construction project on the north side of Siaodong Road earlier than scheduled. Any unexpected obstacles should be eliminated as soon as possible.
