1. The city council’s extraordinary session is set to take place tomorrow. To address concerns that councilmembers may have, heads of department and colleagues must ensure proper interdepartmental communication and teamwork. Please notify concerned departments to prepare information that may be useful during interpellations.
2. I would like to ask the Water Resources Bureau to collaborate with the central government in employing reservoir dispatching projects. The Bureau of Economic Development and concerned bureaus should continue to counsel businesses in conserving water and utilizing drought-resisting wells. The Water Resources Bureau should provide inspection reports for reclaimed water and specify the appropriate usage parameters for the Bureau of Economic Development, Industrial Development & Investment Promotion Committee of Tainan City, and concerned bureaus. I would also like to ask the secretary-general to convene a meeting with concerned departments and brainstorm how to better utilize reclaimed water in Tainan City.

Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) Thank you for this report. Residents tend to feel safer if surveillance cameras are fitted in their neighborhoods. Also, surveillance footage is instrumental to police work, enabling police officers to conduct timely reviewers when working on cases. For these reasons, surveillance systems are considered a key element in fighting crime and keeping residents at ease.
(2) While establishing surveillance systems for the purpose of fighting crime, we must also take into account personal data protection. I would like to thank the Police Department for systematically integrating the establishment of smart surveillance systems, which will shorten the time needed to solve cases and further enhance public safety.
2. The Cultural Affairs Bureau’s report on the 2021 Yuguang Island Art Festival (refer to written sources for details)

Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) The Yuguang Island Art Festival is a biennial event. This year’s Yuguang Island Art Festival coincided with a global pandemic. The Tainan City Government always strives to better these events year by year, and considering that many large events this year have been canceled or postponed, we all have high hopes for the 2021 Yuguang Island Art Festival.
(2) I would like to ask concerned departments to spare no effort in managing issues that often occur during large events, such as traffic control, cleanliness, and the supply of mobile toilets. Also, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs must employ stringent disease prevention measures to ensure that visitors or residents leave the event safely and with satisfaction.
