April is pineapple season in Tainan. Regarding the purchase of pineapples as official government gifts, I would like to ask all bureaus and departments to postpone orders until April or May, or to replace these orders with orders for mangoes instead so as to resolve this year’s overproduction and to minimize farmers’ losses.

Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) Many residents and businesses have taken action to purchase pineapples, which has preliminarily solved the recent pineapple surplus. Other counties and cities have already began putting pineapples on their shelves, whereas Tainan has only begun to do so recently. April is pineapple season in Tainan. Domestic sales, exports, and processing should be carried out to elevate the visibility of pineapples grown in Tainan and to increase market appeal and recognition.
(2) Regarding using pineapples as official gifts, I suggest bureaus and departments postpone orders until April and May. Please don’t concentrate orders during March. To promote the sales of pineapples in Tainan, purchases should be spread out across time and distributed evenly across different areas of Tainan.
2. The Tourism Bureau’s report on the 2021 Tainan Temple Festival Year (refer to written sources for details)

Mayor’s Remarks:
(1) The Tainan Temple Festival Year is an important folk event. However, COVID-19 has resulted in some temple activities to be postponed or canceled. For events that are held as usual, the regulations of the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) should be followed and the highest disease prevention standards should be applied. The CECC announced that the Fall-Winter COVID-19 prevention program will end on March 31. Unless otherwise instructed by the CECC, temple activities that take place starting in April can be held in accordance with the relaxed standards announced by the CECC. That being said, disease prevention measures must still be put in place. Please request temples that plan on organizing events to propose and follow disease prevention plans.
(2) Temple parades create a potential weak link in disease prevention and may also result in congestion, poor air quality, and noise. I would like to ask the Bureau of Transportation, Police Department, and the Environmental Protection Bureau to draw out measures ahead of time to ensure proper disease prevention, environmental protection, and smooth traffic. Let’s strive to ensure that temple festivals are successful while minimizing the impact on residents’ lives. In addition to worshiping the deities, leaving a positive impression for citizens and participants is also of major importance when it comes to temple festivals.
