1. Dengue fever must not be taken lightly. Today (27th), we have arranged for the Public Health Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, and Market Administration Office to give us a presentation about Dengue fever prevention. It is not the sole responsibility of these three departments but rather the collective responsibility of the entire municipal government and the city to prevent the spread of Dengue fever. I trust that everyone will work together in preventing the spread of this disease.
2. I would like to especially thank frontline personnel responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and promoting public awareness of Dengue fever. They are at the forefront of preventing the spread of this disease, and they are also testament to the municipal government’s capability in safeguarding public health. We must treat Dengue fever prevention with discretion. Mosquito larvae can breed in the smallest, most inconspicuous corners, so everyone must put in the extra work to find and exterminate larvae. To effectively prevent the spread of Dengue fever, members of the public should get tested if they experience any discomfort.
3. Beginning on July 1, applications for senior health insurance subsidies, rental subsidies, cross-district commuting passes, and vaccination rewards will begin. Concerned departments should promote these programs and ensure that they are implemented according to plan. The Research, Development and Evaluation Commission should review municipal departments’ performance in promoting these policies.
4. Tainan prides itself as a popular tourist destination. Recently, anonymous threats targeting an attraction that falls under the municipal government’s jurisdiction have been made from an offshore IP. Therefore, I urge all departments to keep a close eye on the security of their websites, ramp up patrol efforts, and be on the lookout for suspicious behavior.

(1) Since cases of Dengue fever have already been identified, we must take measures to prevent the disease from spreading even further. The solution is straightforward; we just need to eliminate vector breeding grounds, exterminate larvae, and disinfect the environment. The communication path of recent local cases is very clear, and the benchmark case has been identified, indicating that imported cases have now led to indigenous cases. We should control the spread of the disease as soon as possible and prevent more people from getting sick. The entire city should mobilize, and both hot spots and safe zones should treat this matter seriously. People and mosquitos are mobile, which means that cases may arise in disease-free zones as well. I urge everyone to treat this matter with caution.
(2) I ask departments such as the Bureau of Education (schools) and Bureau of Civil Affairs (districts and village offices) to mobilize and focus their efforts on preventing the spread of Dengue fever. In addition, drones used by the Fire Department should also be employed in identifying containers, which may serve as breeding grounds for mosquitos, and dispensing insecticide from the air. Hopefully, Dengue fever hot zones will be disinfected in a short period of time. I urge everyone to treat this matter with discretion.
