Major’s Remarks:
1. Last week, Typhoon Krathon impacted Taiwan, resulting in a three-day typhoon holiday in Tainan City. Despite the severe weather, government operations continued without interruption. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Police Bureau, Fire Bureau, Public Works Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, and Environmental Protection Bureau for their diligent efforts in ensuring the safety of citizens and the continuity of municipal operations during the typhoon period. Additionally, we appreciate the support personnel who assisted in post-disaster recovery efforts in other counties and cities. On behalf of the citizens, we thank everyone for their dedication and hard work.
2. This year’s Nan Ying International Folklore Festival has been well received by the local community. This Saturday, in coordination with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Xinhua Wude Hall, an outdoor dance event will be held in the area. The Culture Affairs Bureau is requested to incorporate the results of the restoration of Xinhua Old Street and present them to the public, tourists visiting Tainan, and the media. We thank the Culture Affairs Bureau for their efforts and look forward to when the Nan Ying International Folklore Festival achieves outstanding results and makes a lasting, positive impression on the public. During the event, the organizing authorities are asked to ensure effective traffic management and promote relevant policies.
3. Due to the breach of the banks of the Bazhang River, the surrounding farmland was covered with river soil. The Land Administration Bureau, Public Works Bureau, and Economic Development Bureau are requested to consult with the central government to redirect suitable soil to land consolidation areas, industrial zones, or public construction sites for use as fill material.
Reports
1. The Urban Development Bureau presented a report titled, "Achievements of the Haian Street Museum of Art" (refer to written sources for details).
Resolution: Approved for reference filing.
Mayor’s Comments:
(1) The establishment of Haian Road Art Street originated in 2004 during the term of Mayor Syu Tian-cai. It has now been 20 years since its establishment. Building the Street Museum of Art step by step into its current state has been a challenging journey, and we extend our gratitude to the Urban Development Bureau for their dedicated efforts in achieving these results.
(2) This year’s Taiwan Design Expo is being held in Tainan. The Culture Affairs Bureau is requested to link the Street Museum of Art with surrounding cultural attractions to enhance the event's impact. Given the expected large crowds during the event, the Transportation Bureau and Police Bureau are requested to ensure effective traffic management.
2. The Education Bureau presented a report titled "2024 Tainan City Parent-Child Carnival" (refer to written sources for details).
Resolution: Approved for reference filing.
Mayor’s Comments:
(1) In recent years, parent-child carnival activities have effectively engaged families through collaboration with the media, receiving positive feedback from both parents and children alike. Given the city's vast territory and constraints related to time, space, and resources, the event has been held alternately in areas south and north of the Zengwen River each year. The number of participants has steadily increased year by year, from over 10,000 to 30,000 attendees. This year, there will be two events each day, and we anticipate a high number of enthusiastic participants. The Education Bureau is requested to plan thoroughly for parking and transportation connections for various modes of transportation and to arrange backup parking lots to avoid insufficient parking space. We hope for the successful execution of the event, ensuring that all participants leave with great joy.
(2) When the city government organizes large-scale events, all bureaus and departments are requested to take this opportunity to promote policies related to anti-fraud, gender equality, parent-child education, and traffic safety, ensuring that accurate concepts and policies are conveyed to the citizens.
(3) If the weather is hot on the day of the event, the Education Bureau is requested to take preventive measures, such as distributing hand fans. After the event, please ensure that the area is cleaned.
